China's revised list of prohibited and restricted tech export items does not target any specific firm, China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said on Thursday.
Gao Feng, a spokesperson from the ministry, made the remarks when he was asked whether the revision aims to delay the sale of China's short video sharing application TikTok.
On August 28, China released a revised catalogue of technologies that are subject to export bans or restrictions.
A total of 23 items subject to export restrictions were added to the catalogue while technical parameters of 21 items were revised.
The revised catalogue, released jointly by the MOFCOM and the Ministry of Science and Technology, deleted four items prohibited from export and five items subject to export restrictions.
The revision, in accordance with international practices, is to meet the need to promote global technology exchanges and cooperation, said Gao at a press conference, calling it a "routine adjustment."
