On the southern slopes of the Himalayas in Lebugou, Cona County, Shannan City, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region are a number of villages primarily inhabited by Mongpa people. Due to a lack of infrastructure, Lebugou used to be isolated from the outside world. However, in recent years, the local government has been promoting tourism in the region by building more homestay hotels and restaurants, and repopulating the area with residents from other areas.
