The National Forest City is a city or district whose ecological system is mainly forests. To earn this title, competing cities or districts need to meet the standards set by the State Forestry and Grassland Administration.

According to the Beijing Gardening and Greening Bureau (Capital Greening Office), Beijing's Tongzhou, Huairou and Miyun districts are going to meet these standards this year. By 2023, 14 of the total 16 districts of Beijing will be awarded the title of "National Forest City."
