Hebei China Fortune upset Shanghai SIPG 2-0 in a Chinese Super League (CSL) game on Saturday night, putting an end to SIPG's unbeaten record.
SIPG, as the stronger team, created more opportunities in the first half but China Fortune scored first. In the 45th minute, Paulinho hit the post with a shot from right of the box but the ball bounced to China Fortune's Wang Qiuming who made it 1-0.
SIPG took another hit during the half-time break as their midfield core Oscar was taken off with an injury. The team still could not score in the second half and ended up capitulating again at the end of the game. Samir Memisevic found Marcao who broke into the box with a through ball. Marcao tricked SIPG's goalkeeper Yan Junling and scored to make it 2-0 at the final whistle.
In the other game on Friday, Shijiahzuang Ever Bright edged over Qingdao Huanghai 1-0 thanks to a goal scored by Chen Pu. After this win, Shijiazhuang are now behind fourth placed Hebei by only one point. Qingdao, on the other hand, now lag behind even further from top 4 of Group B.
