Ai Re shot to fame two years ago from a Chinese reality show "Rap of China." The show has been watched by millions of viewers online and is now in its third season. Within the narrow confines of what the show's producers have shown us, Ai Re has always come across as a thoroughly magnanimous, likable figure, and he eventually landed the championship.

Before Chinese/Uygur hip-hop turned to mainstream, Ai Re was a relatively unknown rapper, who worked underground for a long time. CGTN's Serena Dong sat down with Ai Re and unfolded his path all the way from a "nobody" to the new face of Xinjiang Hip-Hop.
