Ditsong Museums of South Africa is an amalgamation of eight museums, seven in Tshwane and one in Johannesburg. It is one of the two National Flagship Institutions constituted in terms of the Cultural Institutions Act, No. 19 of 1998. The museums have rich and diverse collections covering the fields of fauna and flora, palaeontology, military history, cultural history, geology, anthropology and archaeology.
The presentation is part of a special project – Treasure Hunt Relay: Global Museum Director's Choice, initiated by the National Museum of China and dedicated to presenting humanity's iconic cultural treasures through the web. Directors from 16 museums across five continents of the world are expected to introduce museum institutions' history and amazing collections.
