Koktokay is located in the central Altai Mountains to the northeast of Fuyun County in Xinjiang. The Koktokay No. 3 Pit is the largest mine in the world with a spiral of mountain paths along its side walls. Eighty-six kinds of minerals are mined here. It has a very regular spiral belt distribution with very clear boundaries. The No.3 Pit is known as the "museum of geology and mineral resources."
