Zhang Dingyu is the head of Jinyintan Hospital in Wuhan, the former epicenter of the COVID-19 epidemic in China. He led the allocation and treatment work for over 2,800 COVID-19 patients, many of whom were serious or critical. Zhang himself suffers from the amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), but kept working day and night. Zhang was awarded the national honorary title of "The People's Hero" on August 11.
