Chinese war drama film "The Eight Hundred," which has generated over 2.4 billion yuan (350 million U.S. dollars) at the box office to date, is slated for release in Britain on September 16.

The announcement was made by Cine Asia, a British film distributor, via Chinese social media platform Weibo.

"The Eight Hundred" continued to smash records at the box office since its release in China on August 21, about one month after theaters reopened in the world's second-biggest box-office market that had been hampered by the COVID-19 epidemic.

Directed by Guan Hu, it was Asia's first commercial film shot entirely with IMAX cameras.

By the end of Tuesday, "The Eight Hundred" had raked in 2.45 billion yuan (360 million U.S. dollars) in China, data compiled by Maoyan, a movie-ticketing and film data platform, showed.
