India has reported 89,706 new cases, with 1,115 more deaths, during the past 24 hours, taking the tally to 4,370,128 and death toll 73,890. Metro rail services resumed on Monday in a graded manner, maintaining social distancing, and all restaurants and bars reopened on Wednesday.
South Korea reported 156 more cases as of 0:00 a.m. Wednesday local time compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 21,588. Three more deaths were confirmed, leaving the death toll at 344. The total fatality rate stood at 1.59 percent.
Mexico reported 5,351 COVID-19 cases with 703 deaths on Tuesday, taking its national caseload to 642,860 with 68,484 deaths.
Brazil's death toll surpassed 127,000 after registering 504 more deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 127,464. Additionally, 14,279 new COVID-19 cases were reported, bringing the national count to 4,162,073. The country will launch a mass vaccination drive against the novel coronavirus in January.
Argentina recorded 12,027 new cases and 278 more deaths on Tuesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 500,034, with 10,405 deaths. Health Ministry data shows that over the past month, the number of confirmed infections daily was almost half that of the number of tests carried out, one of the highest "positive" rates in the world along with Mexico and Bolivia.
