The Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps is a unique paramilitary organization that's long helped govern and develop the region. Corps soldiers overcame many difficulties during the reclamation in the early 1950s. CGTN spoke with a veteran who came to Xinjiang decades ago and made contributions to his adopted home ever since.
