Shaanxi Province in northwest China will host the 14th National Games from September 15 to 27 next year,  CCTV News reported on Thursday.

The National Games' preparatory committee held a press conference on Thursday and shared the latest developments about the event's preparations, including competition sport selection, competition organization, and venue construction.

Zhang Jian, deputy director of the committee, revealed that the 11th National Games for Persons with Disabilities & the 8th National Special Olympic Games will take place in Shaanxi between October 22 and 29, 2021.

Zhu Yu, deputy director of venue construction, told CCTV that the low-carbon concept would be adopted to construct the venue for the 14th National Games and showcase the local culture of the province.

Dong Li, deputy director of national sports, said that new sports would be added to both National Games for non-professional participants as an important part of implementing the country's National Fitness Program.

Athletes from Shaanxi Province have been performing well in various domestic sports events in China in recent years. For example, Team Shaanxi won 16 gold, 19 silver and 17 bronze medals at the last National Games in Tianjin 2017.
