France reported 10,561 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, the country's biggest ever single-day tally, bringing its total number of confirmed cases to 373,911. The virus had also claimed 17 more lives in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 30,910.
Iraq recorded 4,106 COVID-19 new cases and 60 more deaths, raising the total nationwide infections to 286,778 with 7,941 deaths. The country has took several decisions to ease health restrictions, including permitting movement among the country's provinces, reopening the border crossings for commercial movement, restaurants, tourist facilities of the five-star hotels, and lifting the ban on sporting events.
Lebanon registered on Saturday 686 new infections, making the total number of cases 23,669, while the death toll increased by 10 to 239. The government continued on Saturday to open new departments for the fight against pandemic in Lebanese hospitals in the Bekaa region to reduce the burden on hospitals in the capital Beirut.
Iran reported 2,139 new cases and 116 new deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections to 399,940 and death toll to 23,029. Local media reported that Iranian medical scientists will soon start human trials for an anti-coronavirus vaccine after the animal trials stage has passed.
Brazil registered 33,523 new cases with 814 new deaths in the last 24 hours, which brought the total number of confirmed cases to 4,315,687 and death toll to 131,210. The state of Sao Paulo, which had seen a decline in the death rate from the virus for four weeks, is the current epicenter of the virus in Brazil with 32,567 deaths, followed by Rio de Janeiro with 16,985 deaths.
