Latest developments on global COVID-19 pandemic

The World Health Organization reported a record one-day increase in global coronavirus cases on Sunday, with 307,930 new cases in 24 hours.

The U.S.' COVID-19 case tally surpassed 6.5 million on Sunday, according to Johns Hopkins University's data. The death toll has risen to 194,069 as of 11:10 p.m. EST.

Brazil on Sunday said 415 deaths were recorded in the previous 24 hours, pushing its death toll to 131,625. In the same period, 14,768 new infections were also detected, raising its case tally to 4,330,455.

Ninety UN peacekeepers in south Lebanon have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, a spokesman for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said on Sunday, the first reported cases of the illness.

Iran's number of confirmed COVID-19 cases surpassed 400,000 on Sunday. The hardest-hit country in the Middle East region reported 2,089 new cases, bringing the caseload to 402,029. The pandemic has claimed 23,157 lives in Iran, up by 128 in the previous 24 hours.
