Chinese Ministry of Education on Wednesday issued a package of policies to help Chinese students whose study abroad plans were hindered by the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the announcement published on the ministry's website, the policies were offered at the request of the students, their parents, and the society as a whole, which are aimed at the students who have to change, postpone or cancel their plans of studying overseas due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing limits in visas and flights of the countries of destination.
The ministry allows universities and colleges to reach an agreement on exchange student programs so that students could start their studies domestically before the travel limits were lifted.
Domestic colleges and universities are also encouraged to enroll students with difficulties in pursuing their studies overseas. The enrollment will not influence the institutes' quota of enrollment, said the ministry.
The ministry also asked the Chinese embassies' educational departments to contact the colleges and universities in the foreign countries and offer the Chinese students with necessary help, such as online lessons and getting registered in the new semester.
