Located in Bole City, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Sayram Lake is on the northern Silk Road. At an altitude of 2,073 meters and covering 458 square kilometers, it is the highest and largest alpine lake in the region.
Surrounded by Tianshan Mountains, Sayram Lake is like a shining sapphire inlaid in the basin. With flocks of swans and ducks resting on the lake's surface, cattle and sheep wandering around the beautiful lakeside, the clear blue waters present stunning scenery all year round for sightseers from home and abroad.
