The majority of children who die from COVID-19 in the U.S. are children of color, according to a research report released by U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on September 15.

The research indicates that Hispanic, Black, American Indian and Alaska Native groups accounted for approximately 78 percent of the children who died from COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the CDC noted that "among infants, children, and adolescents hospitalized with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases, persons from racial and ethnic minority groups are over-represented".

As of Wednesday morning, the U.S. has recorded more than 6.6 million cases of COVID-19 with 195,961 deaths nationwide, according to the latest tally from Johns Hopkins University.
