UN's new General Assembly president calls for unity during coronavirus pandemic

The 75th session of the UN General Assembly has been declared open by its president. Volkan Bozkir called on member states to stick together during the coronavirus pandemic and work to ensure the development and equitable distribution of treatments and vaccines. He said the organization should also prepare for the post-COVID-19 era and safeguard the 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement on climate change.
