Israel reported 6,063 new cases on Wednesday, the highest daily rise since the outbreak of the pandemic in Israel in late February, bringing the total to 170,465. The number of death cases reached 1,165, with 18 new deaths.

Ireland's total number of confirmed cases climbed to 31,799 with 1,788 fatalities, the capital Dublin announced more restrictive measures aimed at curbing the spread of virus, which mainly focus on limiting the number of people gathering indoors and outdoors and restricting their movement.

Chile reported 1,305 new daily cases, taking the total caseload to 439,287, while 18 more patient deaths in the past 24 hours pushed the death toll to 12,058. The country scheduled October plebiscite on redrafting the Constitution will take place as planned despite a possible resurgence in coronavirus cases due to national holiday celebrations between September 17 and 19.

Brazil registered 987 new deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the national death toll to 134,106. The country also reported that 36,820 new cases had been detected in the same period of time, total to 4,419,083.

India reported another record jump in daily coronavirus infections with 97,894 cases in the last 24 hours, data from the health ministry showed on Thursday. With 5.12 million cases in all, India is the world's second-worst hit country, and trails only the United States, which has a caseload of around 6.6 million.
