CFA Cup highlights on Sep. 19: Tianjin achieve first win this season

Tianjin TEDA, the only winless team in the Chinese Super League this season, finally put an end to their embarrassing record on Saturday as they defeated Shijiazhuang Ever Bright 2-0 in the first-round of the CFA Cup.

The referee gave TEDA a penalty in the 27th minute of the game after checking with the video assistance referee (VAR). Xiao Zhi scored it for TEDA to put them 1-0 up.

Then in the 63rd minute, Piao Taoyu and Su Yuanjie made a wall pass in Ever Bright's box before Su broke the net again for TEDA. TEDA kept their lead till the end of the game and finally pocketed their first win after 12 games this season.

Beijing Guoan 2-1 Qingdao Huanghai

Guoan claimed a comeback victory over Huanghai. Though Guoan are obviously the stronger team of the two, Huanghai scored first thanks to a penalty by Cleo in the 30th minute. Guoan's goalkeeper Zou Dehai first held the ball in his arms, but somehow then let it slip out. Huanghai's Yang Yu got the ball and Zou had no choice but to take him down. The referee gave Huanghai a penalty, which Cleo scored.

In the 45th minute, Guoan also got a penalty. Though Huanghai's goalkeeper Zhao Shi blocked Alan's shot, the naturalized striker followed in to equalize on the rebound. Then in the 68th minute, Guoan's Jin Taiyan centered the ball from the left and Alan scored with a header to make it 2-1.

Huanghai had the chance to make it 2-2 in the 90th minute when Cleo earned his team their second penalty of the game, but Guoan's goalkeeper Zou managed to save, making sure Guoan are through to the Round of 16.

In the other two games on Saturday night, Wuhan Zall edged out Hebei China Fortune 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out and Shanghai SIPG beat Chongqing Lifan 3-2.
