Latest COVID-19 developments  in the world

More than 20,000 international arrivals have been recorded in the Maldives since it reopened its boarders on July 15. As of Saturday, the Maldives reported a total of 9,568 cases of COVID-19, with 33 deaths in the country.

A total of 93,337 new cases and 1,247 deaths were reported in India during the past 24 hours, local health authorities said. The number of confirmed cases in India now stands at 5,308,014, with the death toll hitting 85,619.

Erin O'Toole, the Conservative Party's leader of Canada, has tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday. Canada now has 144,053 confirmed cases with 9,256 deaths in the country, the latest tally from Johns Hopkins University showed.
