Latest COVID-19 developments in the world

The death toll of COVID-19 hit nearly 200,000 in the United States and the total number of confirmed cases in the country now stands at 6.79 million. In the past 24 hours, the U.S. has recorded 40,956 new cases of COVID-19 with 512 deaths, according to the latest tally from Johns Hopkins University.

The confirmed cases in Brazil rose to 4.54 million and a total of 136,895 deaths were recorded in the country as of Sunday.
