Chinese Premier Li Keqiang made an inspection tour Tuesday in Shanghai, underscoring reform and innovation in stabilizing employment and consolidating economic recovery in the post-pandemic era.

After hearing reports on the development of Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone and achievements notched by Shanghai's Pudong District, Li said Shanghai should continue to take the lead in reform and opening-up and be a role model.

He emphasized that it is necessary to develop services catering to the manufacturing industry via industrial networks. The government should accelerate opening-up and cooperation, promote quality upgrade of manufacturing, and stabilize and beef up the supply chain and industry chain, so as to cultivate new drivers of development.

When visiting 51job.com, a provider of integrated human resource services in China, Li stressed that employment forms the prerequisite of ensuring people's livelihood, and to stabilize the economic fundamentals, the country must give priority to stabilizing employment.

"Although consumption has reversed the previous decline to gain a mild increase, it still needs some time to regain normal growth. It is necessary to explore ways to promote consumption under normalized epidemic prevention and to enhance the pulling function of consumption on the economy," he said.
