The 2015 nuclear deal is high on the agenda as Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif travels to Russia for talks with senior officials. Both sides are also expected to discuss other regional issues and their standing on bilateral issues. 

Zarif's visit to Moscow comes days after the United States declared a unilateral return of UN sanctions against Iran. UN Security Council members, including Russia, have rejected the move, saying Washington does not have the authority to do so after its withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal in 2018.
