Shandong Luneng took an easy 2-0 win over Henan Jianye in the Chinese Super League (CSL) in Dalian, northeast China's Liaoning Province on Thursday.

With this victory, Shandong temporarily surpassed Jiangsu Suning to rank second in Group A while, with their sixth straight loss, Henan were doomed to bottom the group.

Róger Guedes and Graziano Pelle scored the two goals for Shandong, both in the first half of the game. In the 36th minute, Duan Liuyu passed the ball to Guedes who took Henan's goalkeeper off guard. Guedes scored with a push that ended into Henan's net. Shandong led 1-0.

Three minutes later, Henan's Zhou Dingyang was called out for handball in the box leading to a penalty for Shandong. Pelle made it 2-0 for Shandong.

Neither side could score any more in the rest of the game.

Suning end Evergrande's undefeated record

Jiangsu Suning beat Guangzhou Evergrande 2-1, also in Dalian, to end the latter's five-straight-win record. Though the result of this game had no influence on Evergrande's future, the process of their loss was not pretty at all.

In the 19th minute, Suning's Eder fell in the box after making physical contact with Evergrande's Yan Dinghao. The referee called penalty kick first but Evergrande's players kept up their resistance. The referee checked the video assistant referee (VAR) and then changed his decision.

Alex Teixeira scored first for Suning in the 43rd minute. He received the ball from Mubarak Wakaso and shot close to the goal. Though Teixeira's first attempt was denied by Evergrande's goalkeeper, he immediately took the second shot and helped Suning lead 1-0.

Three minutes later, Teixeira broke into the box again before he was taken down by Mei Fang. The referee called no foul immediately and refused to check the VAR. His decision infuriated Suning's players and manager Cosmin Olăroiu questioned the referee's call loudly outside the field.

Physical contact continued to increase in the second half. Though He Chao tied the score for Evergrande in the 72nd minute, Eder put Suning back on top again nine minutes later. Thanks to the win, Suning made their way to the championship group for the next stage and they are one win away from locking Group A's second place ranking.

In the other two Chinese Super League (CSL) games on Thursday night, Shanghai Shenhua beat Guangzhou R&F 2-0. Shenzhen F.C. walked over Dalian Professional 3-1.
