The Global Innovation Index 2019 shows the quality of China's tertiary institutes has gone from fifth place in 2018 to the third this year. In terms of knowledge and technology output, China ranks fifth in the world. Ninety-one million science and technology workers and over 170 million talents are giving fresh impetus to China's innovation.
