Freshwater shrimps wander in stone holes in NW China

In Altai Mountains of northwest Chin's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, even stone holes can be filled with life after rain.

A small shrimp, locally called the fairy shrimp, has lived quietly in the water among rocks since the dinosaur age.
