Chinese President Xi Jinping says unprecedented achievements have been made in Xinjiang's economic and social development. He made the remarks at the third Central Work Conference on northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Xi said the sense of happiness and security has increased among people of all ethnic groups, and their living standards have improved. The president also highlighted the region's decisive achievements in poverty eradication, with nearly three million people lifted out of poverty between 2014 and 2019. He noted the priority of governance in Xinjiang is long-term stability and the rule of law. He also urged authorities to boost communication between different ethnic groups to consolidate ethnic unity in Xinjiang.
