U.S. COVID-19 cases surpass 7 million

The number of coronavirus infections in the United States has topped seven million, according to Johns Hopkins University's latest data.

The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed over 203,549 lives in the country, the highest death toll around the world.

The virus has killed at least 985,748 people globally since the outbreak emerged in China last December. At least 32,397,479 cases have been registered worldwide. On Thursday, more than 6,700 new deaths and 361,000 new cases were recorded worldwide.

After the U.S., the countries with the most COVID-19 fatalities are Brazil with 139,808 deaths from 4,657,702 cases, India with 92,290 deaths from 5,818,570 cases, Mexico with 75,439 deaths from 715,457 cases, and the UK with 41,902 deaths from 416,363 cases.
