One person is dead, and five people are missing after a fishing boat carrying seven fishermen capsized and sunk in the sea near a port in Yancheng City, east China's Jiangsu Province on Sunday morning.

The seventh fisherman was rescued. Searching and rescue operations for the missing five are still underway.

Local authorities said they received a report of a fishing boat from east China's Shandong Province sinking 80 nautical miles from Jiangsu Province's Dafeng Port.

After continuous searching, the body of one of the fishermen and some items from the boat were found on Monday morning.
