Kumtag Desert is located on the border of Gansu Province and Xinjiang. It is connected by the Archke Valley – Dunhuang Yardang National Geopark in the north, the Altun Mountain in the south, Lop Nur in the west and Dunhuang Mingsha Mountain and Annamba National Protected Area in the east.
