Chinese President Xi Jinping and senior Communist Party of China (CPC) officials will present flower baskets to deceased national heroes at Tiananmen Square in Beijing on Wednesday morning, marking the country's seventh Martyrs' Day on the eve of the National Day.

China's top legislature approved September 30 as Martyrs' Day in 2014, to commemorate those who sacrificed themselves to the national independence and prosperity.
