Chinese President Xi Jinping and Argentine President Alberto Fernandez spoke over phone on Tuesday, reaffirming mutual support in the fight against COVID-19 and strengthen cooperation during post-epidemic era.

Noting that the COVID-19 epidemic is a severe test for the world, Xi said that China will continue to work with the international community, including Argentina, to promote the building of a community of common health for mankind.

As for further cooperation with Argentina, Xi stressed that China will open wider to the outside world and promote the new economic development pattern of "dual circulation" – a pattern that takes the domestic market as the mainstay and allows domestic and foreign markets to boost each other.

China welcomes more high-quality agricultural products and high value-added products from Argentina to enter the Chinese market, and welcomes Argentina to participate in the third China International Import Expo (CIIE).

The Chinese president highlighted the concept of a "community with shared future for mankind," saying that both China and Argentina are important emerging markets and developing countries and the two will firmly uphold multilateralism.

For his part, Fernandez wished the Chinese people a happy National Day and spoke highly of Xi's speech when addressing the high-level meeting to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the UN.

Argentina hopes to deepen bilateral cooperation with China in trade, investment, infrastructure, finance, vaccines and other fields, and jointly promote the building of the Belt and Road, he added.
