'Guizhou good man' helps poor village in SW China on poverty alleviation
Hou Yuanjun is the Party secretary of Hongxing Village, a poor village in a mountainous area in southwest China's Guizhou Province. To alleviate poverty, he developed the local chili-planting industry, which is expected to bring the village about 200,000 yuan in sales this season. He also helped a disabled villager get medical treatment. He seldom has time to go back home when he is busy at work. "Staying so many years in the village, I owed too much to my family," he admitted.
