Dawaz: A tradition passed on for generations in Xinjiang

Updated 2020.10.01 10:55 GMT+8

In the Uygur language, Dawaz literally means walking on a rope, and it has long been a traditional acrobatic performance in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. With a history of over 2,000 years, beginners usually start by walking on a rope about 50 centimeters above the ground before proceeding to learn traditional Dawaz, which requires performers to walk 20 meters above the ground. CGTN's Li Jianhua brings you to Yengisar, where a group of young people are dedicated to preserving this tradition.
