Male nurse Fan Chaojie enjoys shooting photographs during his spare time. When he is not busy on the job at the Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province, he finds time to record everyday things in his work life, during which he interacts with patients from all over China.

At the end of the corridor on the hospital's 17th floor, a large, wide window stands out, enticing patients to stop by and look outside for the view, which includes an elevated bridge and a highway, especially when the weather is good.
Fan, who has been working at the hospital for two years, has a ringside seat at the transition from life to death, which in turn helps him capture emotions and sorrow.
In his photos, there is an old lady who came into the hospital over and over again because her illness was incurable. She received constant care, support and encouragement.
Then there are middle-aged men impatiently waiting for surgery, frowning as they did so.
And how can you miss the granny who was hospitalized many times because she had a tumor, as well as the husband who waited for surgery with his hand held by his wife?
Happy moments were also captured ...
... as were rare moments when unknown patients and family members huddled together as they looked out the window.
Looking at the photographs, Fan remarks that those who are able to walk to the corridor are the lucky ones. "You should believe it, that some day the sunshine will light in your life," he says by way of encouragement.
Fan admits that photography is his greatest comfort at work and he hopes that those in the ward will understand the meaning of it – that life, hope and warmth among humans matter.
