India's COVID-19 cases surpass 6.3 million
India on Friday reported 81,484 new coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours, bringing its nationwide case tally beyond 6.39 million, according to the latest data released by the health ministry.
The country also recorded 1,095 new fatalities due to COVID-19, pushing its death toll to 99,773.
India has the second highest number of infections worldwide, behind the United States, according to Johns Hopkins University.
