Serbia vowed to maintain the "brotherly friendship" with China no matter under what kind of pressure, according to the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

He and Prime Minister Ana Brnabic visited the Chinese Embassy in Serbia on Wednesday, sending their best wishes on the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

Speaking at a reception marking the anniversary, Vucic said that the bilateral relations between China and Serbia are developing despite the pressure from the COVID-19 pandemic and other difficulties, reported by Serbian media.

"Even when I was at the place (Washington) where it's the hardest to say good things about China, I still told them, we have a good relationship with China," the Serbian president said.

He said that the coming days are likely to be more difficult, but he is confident that the two countries will continue to help each other.

During his speech, Vucic also spoke highly of China's economic cooperation and development, adding that Serbia will be dedicated to expanding China-Serbia cooperation.

"Although Serbia is not the most important country in Europe, we will be China's most significant and closest friend," the Serbia president said, while expressing appreciation to China help to Serbia during the coronavirus pandemic.
