Trump leaves hospital for short ride and waves at supporters
U.S. President Donald Trump waved at supporters from a motorcade Sunday on a short drive outside the military hospital where he was being treated for COVID-19, according to local media.
The outing came minutes after the president had announced "a surprise" for fans, adding that he had "learned a lot about COVID" by "really going to school," as he has battled the virus, he said on social media.
After the short ride outside, Trump returned to Walter Reed Medical Center, according to a statement from White House Deputy Press Secretary Judd Deere.
Trump could be discharged as early as Monday as he has "continued to improve" after treatment, Brian Garibaldi, a member of Trump's medical team, briefed reporters from the hospital on Sunday.
