A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Tuesday opposed several legislative proposals made by Taiwan's main opposition party Kuomintang (KMT), saying that the party should refrain from doing anything that harms the Cross-Strait relations.

The remarks came after KMT caucus proposed motions that called for assistance from the United States to counter the Chinese mainland and sought official ties with the U.S. during a legislative session on Tuesday. The motions got unanimously approved.

Taiwan is an inseparable part of China, Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, told reporters on Tuesday, stressing that China is against all acts that try to create the so-called "Taiwan Independence."

She added that the fundamental cause of the current tensions and complicated situation in the Taiwan Strait is the collusion between Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and external forces, constantly provoking separatist activity.

Certain people from the KMT party should distinguish the good from the bad, Zhu said.
