After four years of construction, the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway that opened in 1909 was China's first self-designed, built and financed railway. The services of the old railway were terminated in 2016, and the new Jingzhang line opened in 2019, becoming the world's first driverless high-speed railway. It is also an important supporting project for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, which is being co-hosted by the two cities, shortening the traveling time from Beijing to Zhangjiakou from over three hours to less than one hour. CGTN reporter Zang Shijie talked with Yang Cunxin, the station master at Qinglongqiao Station of the old Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway to know more about this historic railway.
