Italy extends its COVID-19 state of emergency until January 2021

The Italian government has extended the nationwide state of emergency until the end of January next year due to the coronavirus pandemic, local media ANSA reported on Wednesday.

The current state of the emergency period in Italy is due to end on October 15th, 2020.

Italy has so far confirmed more than 330,000 COVID-19 cases, including over 234,000 recoveries and 36,000 deaths, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.
