Russia evacuates villages as huge blaze rocks arms depot

Residents of more than 10 villages are being evacuated due to explosions in an ammunition depot in the region of Ryazan on Wednesday, after a blaze broke out in the area, sending thick smoke into the air, Russia's official news agency RIA Novosti reported, citing the country's emergency ministry.

There have been no immediate reports of casualties in this accident.

The fire hasn't been extinguished yet, but rescue authorities dispatched 10 rescue units, including fire trucks, and about 70 firefighters.

According to the initial results, the accident was caused by a fire in the grass near the depot.
