Speaking at the World Health Organization's executive board meeting on October 6, the agency's Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said "there is hope" that a vaccine against COVID-19 may be ready by the end of this year. During his closing remarks, Tedros called for solidarity and political commitment from all leaders to ensure the equal distribution of vaccines when they become available.
