Brazil's COVID-19 infections top five million 

Brazil registered 31,553 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, pushing the total number to 5,000,694, the country's health ministry said on Wednesday.

The worst-hit Latin American country from the novel coronavirus reported 734 new fatalities, taking the death toll to 148,228. 

Nearly 4.4 million patients have recovered from the disease in Brazil, government data showed.
