More than 10,000 people from different ethnic groups joined celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the democratic reform in the Tibet Autonomous Region. The central government of China dissolved the aristocratic local government of Tibet and freed more than one million serfs in March 1959, since which time the region has been steadily moving forward into a new stage of development.
