Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, on Saturday sent a congratulatory message to Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), on the 75th founding anniversary of the WPK.

Xi hailed the WPK's long tradition of leading the people of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to realize national independence and liberation of the people and making remarkable achievements in the cause of socialist revolution and construction in the DPRK after overcoming numerous difficulties.

Over these years, DPRK leader Kim has carried forward the will of late President Kim Il Sung and late General Secretary Kim Jong Il and led the WPK and DPRK people to achieve positive progress in developing the economy, improving people's livelihood and the like, noted Xi.

Xi said he believes that under the leadership of the WPK headed by Kim, the DPRK would keep making new and greater achievements in the cause of DPRK-style socialist construction.

Speaking highly of the bilateral relationship, Xi emphasized that the China-DPRK friendship enjoys glorious tradition.

We are willing to make joint efforts with DPRK comrades to well maintain, consolidate and develop bilateral friendship in the interest of the two countries and peoples, to play a positive and constructive role in maintaining regional as well as world peace and stability, Xi said.
