France on Saturday reported 26,896 new COVID-19 infections in one day, according to data released by its Health Ministry, setting a record since the pandemic began. Nearly 5,000 patients have been admitted to hospitals in the past seven days; over 900 are in serious condition. Across the country, about 1,400 cluster infections are being investigated. Bars in Paris and Marseille have closed. And with over 700,000 total cases, the French government has ordered four more cities to close their bars in the coming days.
