Japan's COVID-19 infections top 90,000

Japan's cumulative total of confirmed novel coronavirus infections topped 90,000 on Sunday, with a death toll of 1,643, according to authorities.

Four hundred thirty-seven new cases were reported on Sunday, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 90,099, including the roughly 700 patients from the Diamond Princess cruise ship that was quarantined in Yokohama near Tokyo in February.
