Chinese premier stresses steady economic recovery, fulfillment of 2020 goals

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Monday called for efforts to consolidate the momentum of steady economic recovery and growth and ensure the fulfillment of this year's development goals.

Li, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks while presiding over a symposium on the economic situation via video link.

He said tax cuts and fee reductions are instrumental in helping enterprises relieve their difficulties and bolster the current economic stability and recovery.

"We must continue to pay close attention to the implementation of policies in the next few months and make more precise use of direct fiscal funds. We must ensure that all promised benefits are obtained by market entities and enhance their development capabilities," Li said.

"We must accelerate the development of new growth drivers, mobilize market forces and develop new business forms and models. We must promote the accelerated integration of online and offline consumption and the synergy of new and traditional consumption to release the consumption potential more effectively driving economic growth."

Li said reform and opening-up is essential to optimizing the business environment and stimulating market vitality and social creativity.
